2003 Home Preamble Descending The Bottom Ascending Aftermath

Of course, we were tired, sweating, smelly, dirty, etc. after 9 hours of hiking, so all the tourists at the South Rim looked at us like we were homeless people.  But we did it!!! And I have been telling that to complete strangers all week...

Here I am seconds after making it out of the Canyon.  Come on, don't I look better than last time?  It is amazing how much a little training and two walking sticks can help!

Tim and Liz finished way ahead of the rest of us, so they prepared a little cocktail party.  Here is everyone celebrating on our El Tovar deck (LEFT: Jason, Karen, Steve, Jill, Liz, Pete, Tim, & Mark and RIGHT: Jill, Tim, Steve, Laurence, Mark, Liz, & Pete).

Here are Mark and I the next day, fully recovered (yeah, right).  Mark, foolishly, is already planning his next Canyon hike -- Rim to Rim in 05, so get your reservations in early!!!
