Scoring & Stakes
Covid Rules
1) If any of your teams are not playing one week due to quarantine, you may substitute any available team and select players from that team.
2) Wear a mask while watching football.
3) If the season ends prematurely, we will payout the weekly winnings up to that point (including any "buy-a-team" charges), but will not payout the season-long reward.
4) Drink more than usual.
5) During Week 8, we will have a Zoom call to make our mid-season replacement picks.
Regular Season
We have three contests during the Regular Season:
Weekly High Score
- Every category has 9 points to distribute between the winner (5), the runner-up (3), and the third place finisher (1).
- Each week there are a total of 45 points assigned to the players.
- The player with the most points each week wins the entire pot ($40).
Weekly Won/Loss Record
- Each player's teams' won-loss record is converted to a percentage each week.
- The highest percentage wins the entire won-loss pot ($20).
- In case of undefeated weeks, the player with the most wins gets the pot. For example, 3-0 beats 2-0.
Total Regular Season Points
- All weekly scores are added together to arrive at the Regular Season total.
- The player with the most points wins the entire pot ($200).
In general, any ties are split right down the middle. Points received during Playoff rounds do not count in any of these calculations.
Here are the five categories and their scoring rules:
Quarterbacks - select 2 teams (any passing by any player counts in the scoring)
- Total Points Scored = Touchdowns (running or passing) + Two Point Conversions (running or passing) - Interceptions (where Touchdowns = 6 points, Two Point Conversion = 2 points, Interceptions = -6 points).
- Net Passing Yards = Total Yards Passing - Yards Lost due to Sacks (notice that this category does not include QB running yards).
- Completion Percentage = Completed Passes / Attempted Passes (your two completion percentages are averaged to get a total value).
Running Backs - select 2 individual running backs
- Total Points Scored = Touchdowns (rushing or receiving) + Two Point Conversions (rushing or receiving) (where Touchdowns = 6 points, Two Point Conversion = 2 points).
- Total Yards - Rushing.
- Total Yards - Receiving.
Kickers - select 2 teams (any kicking by any player counts in the scoring)
- Total Points Scored = Field Goals + One Point Conversions (where Field Goals = 3 points, One Point Conversion = you guessed it, 1 point).
Receivers - select 3 individual receivers (including running backs or tight ends if desired)
- Total Points Scored = Touchdowns (running or receiving) + Two Point Conversions (running or receiving) (where Touchdowns = 6 points, Two Point Conversion = 2 points).
- Total Receptions.
- Total Yards - Receiving & Running (notice that running yards are included for receivers).
Defense/Special Teams - select 2 teams
- Total Points Allowed.
- Total Turnovers (fumbles + interceptions).
- Total Points Scored (by the Defense or Special Teams) = Touchdowns + Safeties (where Touchdowns = 6 points, Safeties = 2 points).
Sometimes there are special situations, like a Quarterback catching a touchdown pass or a Kicker running in a bad snap for a touchdown. If I am unsure of the proper scoring, I will contact the commissioner for a ruling.
Playoffs
The categories and scoring are exactly the same during the Playoffs except for three differences:
Playoff (vs. Weekly) Won/Loss Record
- We select the winning & losing teams for every Playoff game before the Playoffs begin
Different Stakes
- $80 for weekly high score
- $40 for total Playoff won-loss record
- $80 for total Playoff points
Number of Players Picked - number of players picked depends on the round
- Round 1: 2Q, 3RB, 2K, 4R, 2D (Wild Card)
- Round 2: 2Q, 3RB, 2K, 4R, 2D
- Round 3: 2Q, 3RB, 2K, 4R, 2D
- Round 4: 1Q, 3RB, 1K, 3R, 1D (Superbowl)
Most unique picks in any given category will be used as a tie breaker. Points received during the Regular Season do not count in any of these Playoff contests.
"Buy-A-Team" Rule
Instead of only allowing free mid-season replacements, we now let people replace any of their teams by buying a non-aligned team at any time. To replace a team, send an email to the other players announcing the team you are selecting and the team you are giving up. The chart below shows the price you will pay for a replacement team depending upon the week of the season. This is a first come, first serve opportunity (except for Week 8).
Weeks 1-2
$30
Weeks 3-4
$35
Weeks 5-6-7
$40
Week 8
Free mid-season picks after Week 8 games
Selection order is based on lowest to highest score-to-date
Weeks 9-10-11

Weeks 12-13
$35
Weeks 14-15
$30
Weeks 16-17

Any money collected will be added to the Regular Season final jackpot.
